Michigan Association of International Educators Scholarship
Scholarship Overview
Recognizing the importance of student growth and intercultural competency, the Michigan Association of International Educators (MAIE) and The Asia Institute are jointly offering $2,000 in scholarship support to help students access meaningful global learning opportunities throughout Asia.
Eligibility and Participation
- Submissions will be accepted from any undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral student who is currently attending a college or university in Michigan as of February 1, 2027.
- Students who are applying should be actively seeking to participate in a global learning experience in Asia in 2027. The global learning experience can be either a short-term faculty-led program (2-8 weeks in length), a semester long study abroad program, a full year study abroad program, an internship (6 weeks minimum), a virtual learning program (4 weeks minimum) or the conducting of scholarly research (4 weeks minimum). The global learning experience must have a start date between January 1, 2027, and December 31, 2027.
- Submissions will be accepted only from students who have selected a global learning experience in a different country from the student’s nationality and/or different from the country that issued the student’s passport.
- All student applications require the submission of a recommendation form by a faculty or advisor. The recommender can be a professor, study abroad officer, or academic advisor with whom the student has a working relationship.

The submission deadline for the Michigan Association of International Educators Scholarship is February 1, 2027. Please ensure both the student application and faculty/advisor recommendation form are submitted by this date.
