NAFSA Region III Scholarship
Scholarship Overview
To strengthen global competencies and international awareness, NAFSA Region III and The Asia Institute are jointly offering $2,000 in scholarship support to help students in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas access meaningful global learning opportunities throughout Asia.
Eligibility and Participation
- Submissions will be accepted from any undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral student who is currently attending a college or university in the NAFSA Region III territory (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas) as of January 15, 2027.
- Students who are applying should be actively seeking to participate in a global learning experience in Asia in 2027. The global learning experience can be either a short-term faculty-led program (2-8 weeks in length), a semester long study abroad program, a full year study abroad program, an internship (6 weeks minimum), a virtual learning program (4 weeks minimum) or the conducting of scholarly research (4 weeks minimum). The global learning experience must have a start date between January 1, 2027, and December 31, 2027.
- Submissions will be accepted only from students who have selected a global learning experience in a different country from the student’s nationality and/or different from the country that issued the student’s passport.
- All student applications require the submission of a recommendation form by a faculty or advisor. The recommender can be a professor, study abroad officer, or academic advisor with whom the student has a working relationship.

The submission deadline for the NAFSA Region III Scholarship is January 15, 2027. Please ensure both the student application and faculty/advisor recommendation form are submitted by this date.
